Wow....Hyon, always entering with the OP characters =P my vote goes to you because one of your dudes is immortal....and its hard to kill someone whos immortal =P
And your other guy can turn his sword into different shapes..(or somethin like that) soo basically if he gets close enough from any angle, your screwed

I vote for Dante and Sephiroth.

Both of them possess so many skills that pretty much counter any ability the rest of the contestants can use.Not to mention that the skills that they combine along with their swordsmanship makes them almost invincible.Such as Dante creating a vortex with only the force from a swing or his unmatchable speed.Sephiroth can pretty much slice anything in 16 pieces with his octaslash whether its a Dragon or a building and he has a few psychic abilities such as mind reading and the ability to project illusions, plus both of them can take a huge amount of damage especially Dante who was pierced by 4 scythes and didn't feel a thing and that was before obtaining the Devil Trigger thus unlocking his true strength.

PS: Killing someone isn't the only way to win a battle if they are unable to continue fighting or pass out its a victory. And the characters in .hack// can be killed.

Im pretty sure an Avatar has the biggest chance of killing you by using Data Drain, since none of Sephiroth or Dante are composed of data how are the avatars supposed to harm them?Plus if the characters can't be killed why did Ovan say things like: "this wasn't the death I wanted" ?? Not to mention that all these happen inside of a computer. And most of their effects apply to The World, if we go by that logic Sephiroth can use the Life Stream and summon comets and Dante can send them to the Demon Realm by using his complete amulet.But since its supposed to be a fight where area has no effect these dont matter.

I doubt it, Dante got stabbed by 4 scythes wielded by demons and he was 1/4 as strong as he is currently and when the demons tried to take out the scythes they could not,Sephiroth can easily deflect with a single hand the most ferocious strikes such as being attacked by Genesis and Angeal simutaenously and he is also able to cut down building with one hand.Not to mention they are both really fast.Im pretty sure they will be able to destroy the Avatar

PS: I haven't seen the anime, I have just played a few games.

Dante can completely disintigrate Kite(with his flame vortex or his dimensional slash), I doubt he would reform if there isnt a piece of him left and since its an attack that can kill multiple enemies it could hit the avatar without Dante even knowing, or Sephiroth can simply turn into Safer-Sephiroth cast Supernova causing the sun and the solar system to explode.Or he could use Heartless Angel that automaticly brings every enemy that is in range whether he can see them or not on the verge of death(1Hp).

And even if he could Dante could encage him using Lucifer and if he tried to get out the swords would slice him into pieces and he would still be encaged. If the fight was inside the World both of my guys would stand no chance and it would be only a matter of time before they die, I'll admit that, but the fight isn't fought inside The World.

Lol Azure Kite doesn't watch over the world. Azure Kite, and the knights watch over Aura, and anyone trying to approach the key of twilight. He is corrupted data. Administrators don't even have control over him, much less CC Corp. Yata you could say watch over the game in a way. Since there are different time lines, but it doesn't change anything. They were thought to be part of the network, but they were reconstructions from Aura's memory.

And my vote does go to Ovan, and Azure Kite.
