Everyone is a fan of Nirvana, it just takes time to realize that nobody cannot dislike their music. If they say so they either lie or have no good taste. This comes from an entire classical orchestra.

The entire alternative rock/metal world has been influenced by them. Btw, these bands are all from 1997 up to 2003 I believe. Especially all alternative bands that were formed from 1991(release year of "Nevermind" their most successful and influential album) and after, have been greatly influenced by them.
Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote that prior to Nirvana, "alternative music was consigned to specialty sections of record stores, and major labels considered it to be, at the very most, a tax write-off". Following the release of Nevermind, "nothing was ever quite the same, for better and for worse".[97] The success of Nevermind not only popularized grunge, but also established "the cultural and commercial viability of alternative rock in general".[98] While other alternative bands had had hits before, Nirvana "broke down the doors forever", according to Erlewine. Erlewine further stated that Nirvana's breakthrough "didn't eliminate the underground", but rather "just gave it more exposure".
